Members update: Alexander Walker and John Gentry

Always Carry A Bottle Of Water With You On The UndergroundawAlexander Walker is the newest member of commission4mission. He writes that: ‘Creating a narrative is a primary concern within my practice. In my current work, I am exploring ways of transcribing imagery found in Renaissance depictions of Greco-Roman and Catholic mythology into contemporary stories. An ongoing fascination with the technical process of painting drives my experimentation with the subtle augmentation of the relationships between background and foreground. The gentle distortion of perspective in a non-overt way adds a touch of surreality to my compositions.’

image (1)John Gentry and Carl Borges will be sharing space at the Edmund Gallery, Bury St Edmunds, for an exhibition of prints in November. The Private View is on Saturday 22nd November, 12 noon to 3.00pm.
Carl Borges is a member of 12PM, a group of printmakers based in East Anglia. John writes that Carl’s work is ‘intriguing, engaging, attractive and highly professional.’ John also says that lots of his work is religious in content and therefore he has sensed for some time that the Edmund Gallery could be an appropriate venue as there he can feel relaxed about showing what moves him most. John will also have prints at the Apex Arts Centre Gallery in Bury St Edmunds where he is showing with the Gainsborough House Printmakers.
