Judy Goring

Judy Goring 8

“After gaining an HND in Art and Design in the early 80’s I had a hugely satisfying career in Graphic Design. Some years later this was replaced by raising a family and working voluntarily in schools as my children grew, culminating in the study of Art History with the Open University and becoming an Art and Textile Arts teacher to 11-18 year olds. This enriching and evolving background reflects my artistic practice in that I am constantly experimenting with new techniques and materials, finding the joy of exploration as satisfying as teaching others how to use them. I run regular workshops in Essex which satisfy people’s desire to create things using different media, and my need to pass on learned skills. I cannot claim to have a consistent favourite or a well-practised style, although I constantly return to the intricate and detailed forms of nature when I am painting. I’m sure my Christian faith has enhanced my appreciation of creation and discovery, shown in both the people I spend time with and in the simple beauties evidenced around me every day.”
