Members update: Galia, Latchford, Parkinson, Floyd & Garaway

Prog50Maurizio Galia

Maurizio was born in Moncalieri (Turin) Italy in 1963. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, under the direction of Francesco Tabusso, Enzo Sciavolino and Sergio Saroni. From 1982 he was employed by various advertising agencies as a visualiser and illustrator for comics and books. Currently Maurizio is committed to his new storyboards projects, smaller commissions, and the promotion of his book “Prog 50” with a foreword by Peter Gabriel. This book is a complete compendium of prog music, starting in the late sixties, flowing through the years up to yesterday. It documents 50 years of progressive rock around the world, with thousands of artists bios and discographies. Maurizio has played in the Prog Rock bands Maury E I Pronomi and Aquael. Maurizio has also recently had two of his paintings entered into the personal archive of Vittorio Sgarbi, the Italian art critic and curator.

Susan LatchfordLatchford exhibition

During her voluntary role as the Chelmsford Diocese’s Environment Champion (2014-2016) her art hobby became something more. It seemed a natural progression from green Christian to Creation artist which is how she thinks of what she does, trying to reflect in mosaic the great sense of creative energy, diversity and love released through The Word.

Susan will be exhibiting at Loughton Arts Centre, Lopping Hall Gallery at Loughton High Road from the 13th – 27th April and from 11-25th May 2018.

‘Threads through Revelation’ is a spectacular display of textile art, showing many images from the book of Revelation, the last book in the Bible. On tour now, ‘Threads through Revelation’ is visiting cathedrals across the country for the next three years. The exhibition is travelling to:

  • St Edmundsbury Cathedral: 19 June – 18 August 2018
  • Guildford Cathedral: 21 Aug – 12 October 2018

Floyd CommissionRob Floyd

Rob has been working on a few private commissions lately and has completed two commissions for churches which have now been installed. Firstly, an altarpiece depicting ‘Christ in the House of Martha and Mary’ for Christ Church, West Didsbury (Manchester. M20 2ZD) and secondly, a depiction of St Bartholomew (seen here as Nathaniel) for a church of the same name, Wilmslow (Cheshire, SK9 4AA).

Michael GarawayGaraway Reading

Over the recent winter months Michael Garaway has extended a series of new small scale works using locations in Reading as starting points. Two of these were recently shown with the Reading Guild of Artists at Reading Museum. More pieces are to be submitted to the Guild’s next show in March at Henley-on Thames. Further details at

He is also preparing to participate in the Whiteknights Studio Trail in Reading, where his work will be shown at the Progress Theatre. The main trail event takes place on the weekend of 9th -10th June, although the work at Progress Theatre will stay on view until 16th June during their normal opening hours. Michael has also applied to participate in an Open for Arts weekend in Reading in July, where local artists work is displayed in pop-up spaces and local businesses. This is organised by Jelly Arts who already have an excellent track record of local art and community events and interactions. Further details in due course at
